Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder Wants Artur Szpilka To Back Up Tough Talk

Deontay Wilder didn’t take any offense to Artur Szpilka’s promise to “kick his ass” on a conference call Wednesday.

The 6-foot-7 Wilder just hopes Szpilka attempts to back up his tough talk when they meet Jan. 16 in a scheduled 12-round fight for Wilder’s WBC heavyweight championship at Barclays Center in Brooklyn (Showtime). Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs), of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, is a 16-1 favorite over Poland’s Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs), a southpaw who has lost only to Bryant Jennings.

Then fight somebody who can back up their tough talk ! This guy Wilder is a sad pathetic joke. He has brought nothing but shame to the HW division. I hated Gay weather cause he won boring decisions everytime but he would fight the best fighters of his era. Wilder won't even fight ranked guys, let alone his mandatory. But I also blame the WBC. They won't make him fight his number 1 contenders.

He was willing to fight Povetkin but Povetkin said he wasn't ready in January. Then he was willing to fight Glazkov but Glazkov would rather steal the IBF belt off of Tyson Fury.

Szpilka is a good opponent given such short notice.
