Comments Thread For: EBU Shoots Down Hearn's Plan For Joshua Title Shot

The EBU have shot down promoter Eddie Hearn's championship plan for Olympic gold medal winner Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15KOs).

As previously reported, Hearn discussed his interest in matching Joshua against the winner of Saturday's fight in Helsinki between Robert Helenius and Franz Rill, who battle for the vacant EBU heavyweight title.

Why not have Josh and Chisora batlle it out then and have the winner face the EBU champ.

          This.

If Chisora faces the winner of Helenius/Rill/Teper, and he loses (which I consider it can happen), he would lose one of the biggest paydays he has left in his career.

The purse bid of Teper/Price was of 240K Euros, and Chisora could get more than that facing Joshua, being a belt in the line or not.

            Well damn that sucks.

I still say they should aim for Chisora in April than Teper (assuming he wins the EBU back or w/e is going on) for the IBF mandatory than fight Haye & end the year or start 2017 with a title shot vs the Glazkov vs Martin winner.

I think he should fight Teper next. He is not talented, but comes forward, hustles hard and gives it his all. He would certainly test Joshua's resolve.

I still don't understand why AJ's not fighting until April, surely the BBBofC would allow him a voluntary defence, which would of course add a notch to the Lonsdale belt & keep him active.
