Comments Thread For: Dillian Whyte Has Shoulder Surgery, Injured in Loss

Heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte (16-1, 13KOs) has gone into surgery for a shoulder injury that he suffered during last Saturday's knockout loss to domestic rival Anthony Joshua.

According to Whyte, he suffered the injury during the second round of the fight, when he got Joshua in some trouble after clipping the Olympic gold medal winner on the chin.

He showed alot of heart in that fight, for a moment i thought he would knock Joshua out. But Joshua showed guts and champion material as he got thru a tough second round i believe it was. However, two good fighters with alot of potential.

Whyte gave a good account but please, not injury excuses again. Actually, most fights boxers fight with injuries of some sort, or get severely injured during the fight. That's why it's called a fight, you can get hurt. Although yes, a severe injury that needs operations is perhaps rare but still, that's the fight game people.

He took a beating in the first, had a good comeback round in the second, and took a beating for much of the rest of the fight, though had a couple moments.

I certainly believe he was injured. Injuries happen a lot in boxing.

I don't think he would have won.

It was a good fight, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

But Joshua deserves full credit for his win (and I didn't find Whyte's comments inflammatory, on that note).

Whyte gave him a good fight, and is a very good prospect, but Joshua would beat him worse in the rematch, I reckon.

Takes some balls to carry on fighting and wanting to go out on your shield instead of quitting.

but with this shoulder injury it was a CLEAR one and you can probably hear his corner speaking on a REAL injury unlike the other one
