With regards to catch weights , there is a big difference when both fighters hold "belts" in the same weight class and one of them demands the catch weight.
If GGG some how won a title at 168 and demanded that Andre come down close to 160 for a unification bout that would be similar to what Canelo is demanding. -
That types of punchers part was f#cking great. And his take on the Jacobs vs Quillin fight was on 100% point.
I don’t know where Quillin goes. I’m not sure about his desire anymore. He seemed very content with what most quietly think was a bad stoppage.
People assume because Quillin didn’t complain about the stoppage that he agreed with it. So then they assumed the stoppage was good. I think Quillin is in a different place. If his fight with Hasan Ndam had been stopped like that he went have went ape s#$% but he’s in a different place in his life.
I think Harvey Dock is a great ref but I think he made a bad call in this one. I want you guys to think about something. Tell me when a fight has ever been stopped in the 1st round, with NO knockdown and the hurt fighter is in the center of the ring and not helpless on the ropes. I have researched and researched and I can’t think of one scenario that fits the criterion I just stated. A fighter should be allowed to recover from being visibly hurt. If this becomes a trend we will never see great fights again. All of the classics are allowed to play out. Adversity is apart of the script.
I don’t ever want to see anyone get seriously hurt. But this is the hurt the business. You can’t kill a man’s dreams. Being hurt and being helpless is different. Quillin was hurt no doubt. But he’s a strong guy. He could have held. He could have been knocked down soon after. Jacobs could have shot his load. We all deserved a conclusive ending and if a rematch is being discussed on a 1st round ko then we should know that the ending was not conclusive.Comment

GGG's fans love the idea of GGG making Ward come down to 164. But they aren't fond of Canelo making GGG come down to 155.Last edited by Decepticus; 12-12-2015, 09:04 PM.Comment

GGG and Ward aren't in the same weight class, therefore a catchweight makes perfect sense. The only thing that might damage that stance is the fact that GGG's team said they would fight anyone up to 168, otherwise, all things held equal, aint nothing wrong with a 164 catchweight.
Canelo's situation is pure bs. That's like Manny asking to fight Floyd at 143 pounds or no deal. That would be pathetic and de****able, as it is for Canelo to do the same, especially considering that we all already know that Canelo weighs well over 168 poundsComment

Dock blew it but it was a good stoppage. He assumed Quillin was knocked down and stepped in. When he turned back around he saw Quillin was still on his feet but out on his feet. Her couldn't give him a standing 8 count because that's not allowed. If he would've waited for Quillin to actually hit the canvas he would've let the fight continue. Dock messed up but it was a good stoppageComment

I respect your opinion about most things this included, but I think once Dock drops the ball you gotta error on the side of giving Quillin a fairer shake than Dock gave him. He needed to invent an 8 count (for lack of a better way of putting it lol) or pretend there was a KD (not like we haven't seen KD's miscalled before). I want champions & championship level fights to have more leeway or we are gonna have a sport that'll be slightly more brutal than the Daniel Larusso vs Johnny Lawrence fight at the All Valley Karate Tournament. These caliber of fighters have earned that much I feel.Comment
