Comments Thread For: DiBella: Jacobs a Star Now, Both In and Out of the Ring

Boxing fans already knew how Daniel Jacobs was. But now they’ll be paying even more attention to him after his first-round technical knockout of Peter Quillin, according to Lou DiBella, the promoter who works on many of the shows involving fighters signed with adviser Al Haymon.

“A star was born tonight,” DiBella said afterward. “That was incredibly impressive.

““Speed — speed of another level — is power,” the promoter later added. “What was amazing about that barrage of punches was not only the force of them, but how many of them they were and how quick they were.”

Impressive W no question about that, but seems a lil early to call Jacobs a star. If this GGG fight happens thats a fight that could make him a star.

Jacobs is the A-side if he fights Golovkin. Better resume, more exciting style.

Jacobs-Quillin would have sold a lot more than 97k if it was PPV too.

He is a good guy, and I wish him the best. Cancer is no joke, especially the type he had/has. Even post fight after his loss to Pirog, he spoke like we hope all boxers speak!

The last undefeated fighter GGG beat was Mikhail Makarov 6 years ago

Even when you look at the Lemiuex, Adama, Stevens, Macklin and Rubio fights; GGG didn't do anything that wasn't already previously done. I mean, Ishida was coming off a 2 fight losing streak for God's sake.

GGG hasn't faced anyone like Jacobs or seen speed + power combined like what Jacobs brings.

If Jacobs was promoted properly he could be that next big American MW star.
