Comments Thread For: Quillin OK With Stoppage, At Peace With Jacobs KO Loss

It can be hard enough for a fighter to lose. Peter Quillin’s first loss had to be a tough one. He didn’t even make it half a round against Daniel Jacobs and was wobbled badly enough that referee Harvey Dock halted the bout.

It would be understandable, then, for a fighter to respond with disappointment, frustration and pride. Quillin, however, was at peace with what happened — and didn’t protest the stoppage.

What this guy did and what Donaire did against Walters is how you take a loss like a man. I can't read his mind and know if he REALLY feels that way, but you give your opponent his credit for doing what he did and say you'll try to do better next time, biggup Peter Quillin.

Sergio Martinez is the epitome of how to take a loss.

When he lost to Cotto, Max and his trainer gave him every possible avenue to make an excuse. Instead, he said that "no, you have to know how to win AND lose," and Cotto was better than me, beat me."

take that in contrast to Cotto who leaves the arena in tears, JMM (and I love him) who has never lost a fight, or Pac who also has never lost a fight or lost it to luck

I forgot all about that, I completely agree with you though, Martinez was class personified.

And Marquez, as great as he certainly is, may just be one of the sorest losers in the history of sports.

Exactly, martinez literally spent the entire 24/7 episodes convincing ppl that his knee was fine in order to scam everybody of ppv money.

Peter was all class in the post fight

But I still didn't like it, I want the fighters to be pissed off after a loss
That's why I can't hate Cotto, JMM or Rios on how they react after they lose.

Go away, Quillin. Boxing is better off without you.

                    What are you talking about?

Go away for what? He's being classy and humble. If Nicolai Denzinikov lost like this and remained classy you would be sucking him off

You must really hate yourself deep down. No need to admit it because I see it
