Comments Thread For: Duva Details Wilder/Glazkov Decision, Fury/IBF Status

On Thursday Jake Donovan talked about Vyachaslev Glazkov's decision to bypass an opportunity to face WBC heavyweight belt-holder, Deontay Wilder, and instead take a crack at the IBF title (where he is the mandatory challenger). It was believed that Glazkov had signed onto face Wilder weeks ago for a January 16th bout at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Kathy Duva, the head of Main Events - who promotes Glazkov - explained:

Fury viewing Glazkov as a threat ? The rematch is worth a lot of money yet the offer to allow the rematch first was rejected immediately ! I would say this is a signal of clear intent by Team Fury to only fight the money fights from here on in, I'd hoped he would face and fight anyone and build a prestigious record after defeating the former champion as so that Wlad lost to an impressive champ, I am expecting a Joshua fight in the summer if it earns Fury more than the Wlad fight.

Had a chance to fight one of the highest grossing fights for your guy that would be widely broadcast and would gather him fame had he one, but chooses to fight for a lesser vacant belt. Duva is taking the whole "I hate Haymon" thing too far and its a detriment to her fighters.

I have a feeling that this will comeback and hurt any chance she has for Kov fighting Haymon's LHWs

Duva says she tried to make a deal with Fury's promoter, Mike Hennessey, where they would allow Fury to take the rematch with Klitschko, as long as there was a deal in place to have him face Glazkov next. The proposal was rejected.
Hmm, I'd like to hear more details about this. When exactly did Duva try to make that deal since she pushed for an immediate purse bid, thus bypassing any negotiation period?

It will also be interesting to see if Mick Hennessey responds to this claim.

I wish fans will start calling Duva out on her BS. This is the THIRD fight in a row she has turned down a fight from Haymon and Co.

More like she wants to force a vacant title and pick it up.

                excuses.

she knew that her fighter would be fighter wilder well ahead of time. That's bs that they didn't have enought time to train etc.

I do however, agree that if the contract had changed after they had already agree to something isn't cool on dibella's end.

He was genuine class, his persona, dress sense everything about the man. I care nothing about the drugs misdemeanours, those were his business and ultimately his demise, better to live as a lion for a day than go through life as a sheep. He lived the life.

You should buy his book, you'd pick it up cheap now and I'm sure his children will be the beneficiaries. I've been having a Weiland musical adventure day on the iPod at work, just enjoying a vast catalogue really.
