Comments Thread For: Bute Content With Performance, Respects Judges' Decision

The working theory heading into the super middleweight title fight Saturday evening in Quebec City was that Lucian Bute was brought in for one last payday before sailing off into the sunset.

James DeGale knew better than to believe that, put still put that logic to the test, forcing a frenetic pace in scoring a 12-round decision in his challenger's backyard. Scores of 117-111 (twice) and 116-112 were accurate, yet still not entirely indicaive of the two-way action to be found throughout their Showtime-televised headliner.

Some were asking why didn't DeGale do more to outclass Bute. Ask DeGale when he's in his most truthful moment. He'd tell you he did all he could. Bute is no bum. He'll be back. Maybe not at the very top but close to it. The guy certainly has nothing to be ashamed of, and he has class. And he certainly isn't a sore loser either, like some we know.

I believe he can outbox Abraham if they meet. Would be a good matchup

Degale just lacks that top level power to keep Bute honest, but he outboed him clearly enough

Definitely. Doubtful Abe would go for it, but yeah that would be a great matchup.

He was being honest, and basically said back to the gym for another go at it. How is that a problem?
