Comments Thread For: Kovalev Expects Tough Fight With Ward, and Pascal

WBA/IBF/WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (28-0-1, 25KOs) will be training through the holidays, as he prepares for a finalized rematch with Jean Pascal (30-3-1, 17KOs) on January 30th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. HBO will televise.

Kovalev and Pascal traded punches at very same venue back in March. The fight had a lot of fireworks and Pascal put in a very good effort, but he was eventually stopped in the eight round.

How can he expect a tough fight with Pascal given what we saw already?

        Can't Wait

Pascal vs Kovalev was a good fight the first time, and I think it will be good again

But I think he stops Pascal sooner this time.

Ward is on a whole other level. Ward is a top 5 talent and boxer. Extremely skillful and he beats up his opponents. He will test Kovalev in ways he has never tested before.

Kovalev is the best Light Heavyweight in the world and I look forward to seeing him vs Ward in 2016

Those are some high profile fights for Kovalev, he's poised to have a good 2016.

First fight was easy for Kovalev... The montreal crowd made it seem closer thant it was. Krusher was barely touched and Pascal was overwelmed. This time he will get crushed for real....
Ward fight will be tough... but if he's in the zone like the night he schooled Hopkins, well...SOG will be in for a very disapointing evening!

cause the first fight was tough didn't you see how Pascal was countering him with the right hand over and over but Kovalev is tough he was able to take it but it wasn't easy.

Are you an idiot or just.. an idiot ? First fight was full of action and Pascal won at least 2 rounds (I gave him 3 out of 8), what any other LW ever done. This was CLEARLY Kovalev's toughest fight. I guess you'd rather want to see him fight another Pizza delivery guy right ?

Pascal might have won 2 of 8 rounds. He got KD in the 3rd and lost by TKO. Respectfully, I don't think the outcome will be any different.

Pascal subsequently had a tough fight with Gonzalez, a much lesser fighter than Kov, and struggled to a win in a fight MANY thought he lost.

I think a lot of fans would prefer a Gonzalez fight instead of the JP rematch.
