  • Comments Thread For: Joseph Diaz Jr. Faces Hugo Partida For NABF Title

LOS ANGELES – Undefeated featherweight sensation Joseph “Jo Jo” Diaz Jr. (18-0, 10 KOs) will make his fifth appearance at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino on Friday, December 18, in a 10-round featherweight main event against Mexico City, Mexico’s Hugo “Olimpico” Partida (20-6-2, 15 KOs) for the vacant NABF featherweight title live on Boxeo Estelar on Estrella TV.

“Joseph ‘Jo Jo’ Diaz Jr. is on his way to stardom and this title shot on December 18 is a great way for him to close out a spectacular year of fights he had in 2015,” said Oscar De La Hoya, chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. “Joseph is, without a doubt, a future star for the sport. This title shot is a big opportunity that can take him to the next level, something he has worked hard for and undoubtedly has deserved.”

    Time To Step Up

I like and understand how Oscar de la Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions have brought up Jo Jo Diaz. But this needs to be the last fight where he is facing this type of competition. He's way to talented for this type of opponent. The "training wheels" must come off after this fight.

This is probably just a busy fight and they probably wanted to give one of there top 5 prospects a regional title fight before the end of the year so I understand.

Next year though he needs to fight either Manuel Avila or Julian Ramirez sometime.

He needs to start fighting guys with a bigger name or guys who were actual major title holders.

Next year Jo Jo needs to go from prospect to title contender. I expect a BIG YEAR FROM JO JO DIAZ NEXT YEAR.

Just like I have been predicting!!!!!!! And now Diaz is now fighting Julian Ramirez leftovers!! Two weeks ago I said that Julian Ramirez, Oscar Valdez, Diego De La Hoya and Joe Diaz will fight each other's leftovers but not themselves and what does Diaz do?? Fights Julian Ramirez leftovers!! These fighters and their management need to grow some damn balls and fight each other!! If there were only 10 fighters in their division, these prospects would fight those 10 guys 100 times before going against each other!! More Top Skank and GoldenCrap bullsht cards!

Here you go with your hate yet again. I guess you must have thought this past weekends fights were crap too?

I hope your saying the same thing about the James Degale card this weekend because that's a crap card.

Hate again?? If you had been reading my past posts you would know my complaint is for typical weekly cards that feature prospects against SETUP AFTER SETUP AFTER SETUP! That is what a crap card is. When prospects go against prospects or against guys who don't have 6 losses and lost their last 2 out of 3 fights where the outcome is guaranteed, then I don't complain!

Okay ill just ask you one question.....what bothers you more...How Golden Boy and Top Rank match their prospects up?.....or how PBC matches up there already established top tier talent that aren't prospects???

Simple - this applies to ANY card. If a fighter is fighting an opponent where the outcome is all but guaranteed, meaning it is a setup, or gimme or stay busy fight after another stay busy fight, or "showcase" fights, instead of EVEN or near EVEN matchups, I have a problem with that. That goes for experienced fighters, champs, prospects, whatever. Especial when prospects will fight each others leftovers again and again because they and their management are afraid of each others shadows.

It's a miracle!!!! Finally we agree on something!!!

Like when I first commented it's time for Golden Boy to take the Training Wheels off guys like Jo Jo Diaz, Julian Ramirez, and Diego De La Hoya. Now for there credit they are matching Shabranskyy vs Gonzalez on the undercard of Ortiz vs Jennings. Shabranskyy is one of there top prospects.

But to me when guys like for example Danny Garcia is about to headline a card against Robert Guerrero that's more problematic. And that's one of many examples of miss matches that in my opinion PBC gets away with. Because if that was Golden Boy or Top Rank they would be more criticized for those type of matchups.
