Comments Thread For: Canelo: I'm Prepared For Whatever Happens With Cotto

LONDON - Boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez has refused to look too far ahead as he prepares for his ’50-50’ fight with four division world champion Miguel Cotto.

The stacked 160-pound division is brimming with talent including WBA and IBF knockout king Gennady Golovkin, WBO champion Andy Lee who defends his title against the undefeated Billy Joe Saunders, with Daniel Jacobs set to take on former champion Peter Quillin.

im not huge on canelo or cotto, but im mixed on this fight...canelo is the heavier and younger man..he shouldnt feel this is a 50/50 fight..and that worries me..if he can win 5 rounds vs lara on my card god know he should be able to handle cotto's movement or lack thereof...

that 50/50 comment tells me wat i need to know about canelo..he's not elite..he's popular and he'll beat fighters he has advantages over..

cotto is at the end of the road either way..he's old and really isnt a jr mw or a mw considering his short statue..i dont think he beats either charlo, andrade,or lara..his best bet is beating canelo and having part 2 or fightin tim bradley at 154.

This is a real fighter, willing to take on a 50/50 fight.

I wish the kid all the best.

But even more than that, I wish every supposed elite boxer was willing to fight a threat

      Canelo's last 6 opponents.....
      Trout
      Mayweather
      Angulo
      Lara
      Kirkland
      Cotto

      Golovkin's last 6 opponents.....
      Captain Adama
      Daniel " killer " Geale
      Rubio's corpse
      An about-to-be Abraham victim
Willie " the kid " Monroe
      Pepe Le Pew

Canelo may catch Cotto, Golovkin won't.

It tells me that he's realistic, and that he is prepared.

ok u could say that, but have to understand that i've seen about 70% favoring canelo when they are not rican...
he's bigger he's younger stronger an should be just as fast..im sorry but if i knew andrade had all those advantges over someone it would seem to be a 50/50 fight to me..

"The stacked 160-pound division is brimming with talent"? GGG, Lee, and Quillin make it a stacked division? It's one of the weakest divisions in boxing. The worst part is that you can't even pay the top guys to fight each other.

well lets see if the elite canelo actually defends the belt against his mandatory "GGG" (if he wins). Seeing as your comparing the fighters resume then canelo should have no problem beating golovkin seeing as he has fought nothing but "bums".
