I suppose its possible he just becomes a independent contractor-like PBC promoter with probably a inside track at getting the bigger fights. I feel like he'll be taking a role with PBC itself of some sort, but a high up role. I don't think he takes the Mayweather Promotions gig as Floyd offered him, although I suppose its possible & Mayweather just wants to make Elerbe cry in public.
see the thing is is that alot of fighters that are under the PBC brand are currently unpromoted, all the top guys like porter, garcia, thuryman, khan(i think), spence, broner and so on are not promoted by anyone,so if schaefer could get all these guys to join mayweather promotions it might make sense to become the president then, but otherwise if these guys want to remain unpromoted then theres no incentive for him to do so,and hes better off taking a PBC related role. but really its up to haymon,if haymon suggest to these young fighters to join M. promotions, they will do so

as far as i know, PBC/haymon pretty munch only use dibella promotions as a "front" incase people start asking questions why he looks so much like a promoter rather then a manager.

Good PBC needs a face and voice to really grow. Someone who is out in the media talking up the product, what is going to happen, why certain stuff is happening or why other stuff isn't. PBC has a certain direction and plans but no one knows what they are or explains **** which makes the whole thing a mystery. Schaeffer can also bring in some good ideas of his own and bringing in another good boxing person is always a positive.

Plus his Swiss accent is awesome~

The only way I would see him going to HBO is if their heir apparent gets popped again before taking charge, which is why Hershman got the job. Even then their second in house choice would probably still be go to guy, since they aren't really cleaning house this time.

as for my opinion, origianally i figured he would take over ellerbes spot at mayweather promotions and use it as the head promoter for PBC series(basically every single PBC event will be "promoted" by mayweather promotions by showcasing at least one mayweather promotons fighter on the card) and that way haymon doesnt look like a promoter anymore, since hes a manager only.

but seeing as mayweather promotions isnt really profitable at the moment since they dont have any rfighters,i think he will end up joining PBC in a high rank poisition over there since he and haymon are boxing geniuses and they kno how to profit in a unprofitable sport like boxing

Oscar came to Richard and asked him to help start a business. GBP was Schaefer's idea. HBO Latino boxing was Schaefer's idea. Getting AEG to invest into GBP and then turning around and buying a portion of the Houston Dynamos, a team AEG owned. The Barclay's deal. The HBO output deal. He's been a part of 4 of the top 10 highest selling boxing PPV's. It's so much more that I'm not going to get into right now. But if you think Schaefer ain't a good business man and great promoter you're crazy. He came from a banking background and built GBP from nothing to the #1 promoter in less than 10 years.
Did he say GBP was a success overnight?

It's one thing if you haven't been following the sport that long. It's another to pretend you have.

The early superstar fighters signed because of Oscar the early HBO tv deals were because of HBO wanting to keep Oscar so they gave his company a huge platform early on for his fighters. The huge influx of latino fighters that signed to Golden Boy INCLUDING Canelo signed because they were fans of Oscar. You want to give Schaefer credit for the last few years and TV deals and working with Haymon ok. But the early years and how Golden Boy overnight was so successful was because of Oscar's name and involvement. You could of literally had anyone running the company at that time and it was going to be a hit. Fighters like Hopkins, Mosley, Morales, ect all signed because of Oscar not Schaefer.

Richard Schaefer getting an itch huh? Big f'ing deal. Some of you dudes are just a little to excited about that. Who cares. If he does decide to come back to boxing and does join Haymon, the only way he can make a difference is if he forces Haymon to start making the fights people want to see and stop this coddling of his top guys ie..cherrypicking. If that doesn't happen PBC will still be in the same place its in, getting low number on a consistent basis and drawing in zero new fans.

Just because Schaefer can potentially be a part of Haymons teams doesn't mean the sponsors will automatically be on board. The sponsors want to see ratings if they get on board, which PBC is not getting. So unless Schaefer can force Haymons to make good tough fights and pit his best fighters against each other then the ratings will continue to stay where they are.
