Comments Thread For: Mundine Will Consider Retirement After TKO Defeat

Anthony Mundine is contemplating retirement after a crushing loss in his WBC Silver super welterweight title fight to American Charles Hartley.

The fight was stopped in the 11th round just as Mundine's father Tony threw in the towel at the Melbourne Convention Centre, handing Hatley a one-sided TKO victory.

Mundine never really recovered from a brutal second round when he was knocked down three times by the Texan, who pummelled the Australian with body blows as well as landing plenty on his chin.

He's not gonna retire, not if he can get Aussies to continue to come to his fights.

@ the loss prevents his potential to land a big money fight with the like of Cotto. No relevant champion is gonna give this guy the time of day.

What about his ability to beat Canelo, Cotto and Mayweather? Mundine is still the only guy who can do it...

I cannot believe he is going to retire, he is just about to enter his prime.

Hooray for Charles Hatley! He's done what most Aussies have wanted to see done for years. Joshua Clottey almost KOed him. I wish I could have watched it, though I'm not paying money to watch a fight that would go to Mundine. Seeing him unconscious on the canvas after his first title fight with Sven Ottke was a personal favourite.

Feeling for Mundine, haters gonna hate, but Mundine is a true sporting icon, not many people can master two professional sports and Mundine did it, as well as being a 3 division world champion. Thanks for the memories Anthony.
