  • Comments Thread For: Harrison Survives Late Scare (Again), Decisions McCalla

Tony Harrison rebounded from the first loss of his professional career, outboxing Cecil McCalla over 10 rounds Saturday evening in Houston, Texas.

Scores were 98-92 (twice) and a cruise control-like 100-90 in favor of Harrison, who was briefly stunned in round nine and again right before the final bell but otherwise in full control. [Click Here To Read More]

I'm not seeing Harrison as arriving anywhere further than solid contender level. He is athletic but not explosive and his work rate is low.

Compare that to Charlo's performance in the main event and you see in Charlo a fighter who is already about to step up to challenge for a belt and probably win it. He would beat Liam Smith. Andrade and Lara would be good match ups.

If he can step up a division then Canelo is waiting for him.

is this the only fight of his u've seen? he has good volume and nice pop behind it to..i think the ko did a bit of the badou jack to him..it make him more patient, but he'll prove to himself he can take the shot and he'll be back putting punches together in 2 or 3 fights..he fights on the inside a lot, not tonight but it was smarter..

look at jack he was complete at one point like harrrison..got ko'd then was on his bike the next fight or so..then he went on to walk 2 down 2 big punchers...

funny how things can change and tony is good

I gotta admit I haven't seen much of him - this fight and the last one. Maybe it was caution on his part but the best I could say is the jury is definitely out. Wait and see.

Tony typical Harrison needs to fight a contender

Typical ****** Tony needs to actually maybe fight a real contender after being exposed in the KO loss as a fraud. Nice fighter good jab with a very big mouth and so ****y even after being KO'd. Typical harrison seems afraid to step up the competition because there is Doubt after the KO. Doubt is a the worst opponent for any fighter because doubt makes a fighter fight scared. Once Typical Tony gets into the ring with a real fighter that Doubt will show again. The arrogance of Typical Tony is apparent and look for this ****** warrior to soon fade from the boxing scene.

My complaint against the English guys has more to do with promotion and Haymon is taking lessons, but to just shove Liam Smith into the we could beat him if we meet him pile. I don't think so. People saying Charlo and Harrison have the same style and as long as they fight in their comfort zone and pace, all is good. Harrison got taken out of his pace, forced into a fire fight , faded and... Charlo may be in the same situation when he fights somebody under 40 years old. Liam is no Alcine, not buying the coronation just yet.

I am English but even I can see that over the years there have been very few British elite level boxers but many many champions - what does that say? Liam Smith falls into the latter category for me. Charlo isn't going to be elite ever but I see him as maybe being a more durable champion. There was a lot of hype around Harrison so that got me tuning into his fights - but so far I'm not seeing anything - more than anything the work rate isn't there - he doesn't look to have a motor. Time will tell. On the other hand Spence looks unbeatable right now and I could see him being a 2/3 div champ.
