Comments Thread For: Roman Gonzalez on Facing Inoue, Nietes, Estrada

WBC flyweight champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez (44-0, 38KOs) is looking at a possible ring return in February. He says there are plenty of options for him after retaining his title earlier this month with a knockout victory over former champion Brian Viloria at New York's Madison Square Garden.

The fight Gonzalez would want most is the man he defeated in 2012, Juan Francisco Estrada, who holds the WBA/WBO world titles at flyweight.

sounds like another hbo fighter is tired of being paid peanuts this seems like a trend. rios even said something in a video about how hbo and top rank fighters are underpaid when he was asked about the pbc top rank lawsuit. good for roman 500k is a joke him vs estrada is plenty good enough to headline an hbo card

He seems to have an ego. $500K is peanuts and he wants $1-1.5M for the Estrada fight? I mean it's a good fight, but the even the majority of hardcore fans don't really care because these guys weigh less than the average female. He needs to reign in his purse expectations.

how does he seem to have an ego hes number 1 p4p on most sites and has been helping ggg get ratings for awhile now. he wants what he is worth hbo has been shorting fighters for awhile now compared to every other network. he is well within his right to ask for that roman vs estrada would do very good ratings

Gonzalez vs. Estrada would be lucky to break 1M viewers IMO. It's a good fight, but HBO would be wise not to overestimate how much the public cares about fighters below 135 lbs.

              lmao

Why would roman take any of these fights, when boxing pundit idiots are already declaring him p4p the best fighter in the world even though he is fighting guys that are 38-28, hasn't had a major win since 2012 (last time ward won a meaningful fight) and just beat a faded viloria who has won a real fight since in nearly 4 years, and has only been beating 12-8 fighters for the past few years..

Hypocrites are everywhere in boxing,, crucify floyd or manny for fighting guys yet give roman a pass and proclaim him the best..

              bradley
              rigo
              wlad
              manny
              golovkin
              kovolev

have all fought and beaten better fighters in the past 3 years, but idiots proclaim the best is roman, because they think they are being trendy and uber-smart, when in reality, they are being hypocrites and dumbshhiitts

Roman just had his 2nd fight on US tv, he's still building up his image to most fans. He'll have bigger paydays down the road unless he gets greedy and starts killing fights.
