  • Comments Thread For: Alexander Bes***** To Go Pro With Top Rank, Klimas

Top Russian amateur Alexander Bes*****, 24-years-old, has arrived in Los Angeles to prepare for his planned debut in the professional ranks. The talented welterweight was the 2012 champion in Russia and the European champion in 2013.

In early October, Alexander signed a promotional contract with Top Rank. And his career is being guided by well-known manager Egis Klimas, who is working with such boxers as Sergei Kovalev, Evgeny Gradovich, Vasyl Lomachenko, Vyacheslav Glazkov, Alexander Gvozdyk, Dmitry Mikhailenko and several others.

I think TR is bad choice Fight Promotions or K2 would of been a lot better, as they had very good success of others EE fighters, TR will probly ruin another prospect like they did with Korobov

I am not sure they are doing good with Lomachenko and did a good job with Gradovich. They have other guys about ready to like Gvodyzk to move up to big fights. Problem with K2 is only dates they have is Wlad or GGG undercards

True but look where is Kovalev and look where is GGG, and look what a fine job FP are doing with Khytrov, Derevyancheko and Golub all of those guys are getting tv dates on regular bases and look at Mekhontsev, that guy from Luthuania and Gvozdyk who haven't even had one tv date, yeah and Lomachenko has had a terrible year he hasn't fought anyone.

I follow amateur boxing, but I'm not as familiar with Bes*****. He did win the 2013 European Championships.
I have wanted more top amateurs from 56-69 kg to start turning pro and hopefully this is the beginning of that.
I hope Top Rank doesn't move him at a snail's pace. Don't rush him, but don't move him slowly.

Yes, that's what will likely happen.

I hate what Top Rank are doing to Gvozdyk and Mekhontsev. And they have Loma in another meaningless fight.

And recall how the aruined the careers of the very talented Mikey Garcia and have mis-managed Guillermo Rigondeaux.

DiBella, Main Events, K-2, Golden Boy are all better promoters than Top Rank these days.

Just watched one of his fights, he's really aggressive. Could potentially be a good pro. He also got a Silver at the 2015 European Games, now that I remember.

It's probably better that he went pro. Russia has a very deep amateur program right now and two other fighters are ranked above him in that weight class alone (both already qualified for the Olympics already): Radzhab Butaev and Andrey Zamkovoy. There was probably little chance of him also qualifying so it's probably best to go pro instead of wasting his talent.

Did you see what happened to Mekhontsev on 9/11? He was out on his feet vs that Brazilian guy. He got a gift decision.

Gvozdyk and Kavilgiuas both have been out with injuries thats why Kaviligiuas hasn't fought yet this year and Gvodyk would have fought once or twice more this year

As for Mikey didn't they have a fight for him vs Gamboa and he choose to sit out and has been sitting out?
