    Former EBU and Italian featherweight champion Sergio Caprari has passed away at the age of 83. Caprari was an outstanding amateur and won a silver in the 1952 Olympics and then turned pro and in 1958 won both the national and EBU titles.

    He was known for his excellent technical skills and is regarded as one of the greats in Italian boxing.

      As a kid, back in the days when there were only two TV channels in the UK, I remember late one night watching Caprari lose his European title to Gracieux Lamperti after 15 rounds of highly skilled boxing. Sergio was 83, eh. Tempus fugit. RIP.
