Comments Thread For: Jorge Linares Eyes February Return, Rules Out 140 Run

Venezuela's Jorge Linares (40-3, 27KOs), who on Saturday night successfully defended his World Boxing Council lightweight championship at the Caracas Polyhedron, after defeating Mexican Ivan Cano, by knockout in the fourth round, insists he has no plans to beef up for a chunkier division.

There isn't a lot going on in that division and Linares definitely does appear to be in a good form. There are some fights there I'd like to see like against Flanagan and Zlatacinin, but all of the really big names for him are at 140 and at 30, I think it's time to start thinking of legacy and big fights. But I love watching Linares. One of the best offensive talents the sports has seen in a long time imo. He has every punch.

He'll probably move up to 140 in a few years though.

I'd like to see him fight a Mikey Garcia (if he ever stops being a bum) at 140. For years, I was hoping for him vs Amir Khan but that's not possible now since they are 2 divisions apart.

Linares is an exciting fighter to watch... He is basically the Latino version of Amir khan.. Immensely skilled but can get beat anytime vs anyone, but also can beat anyone at anytime.

Would like see see Linares vs
        Abril
        Verdejo
        Juan diaz

If Walters moves all the way to 135, him and Linares would be a very interesting style matchup

Him vs Gamboa should really be made. Did Gamboa sign with MP yet?

Unless Abril can make 135Lb, then Flannigan has to be the best fight out there.

Yeah, that's a good comparison. He should scratch the Golden Boy moniker and go with Jorge "The Latino Khan" Linares.
