Comments Thread For: Hearn: Brook Walks Through Rios, Chaves is Difficult

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is not expecting an easy night for IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (35-0, 24KOs), who on October 24th will defend his title against dangerous Diego Chaves (23-2-1, 19KOs) at the Sheffield Arena.

Originally, Hearn was trying to secure Brandon Rios for the date. The two sides were unable to reach an agreement. A few weeks later a deal was reached with Chaves.

It's no secret that Chavez is a better fighter than Rios especially at 147, Chavez was outboxing him easily until the bs DQ, Rios' bullying pressure fighting style is just not going to work against legit 147 pounders, he's not big or strong enough, he doesn't punch hard enough and his way of closing distance behind the high guard without any use of jabs or feints won't work at that level and it's gonna make him take a lot of punishment at 147.

yeah none of the other awesome opponents of jo jo dan did that. is this guy for real? brook is another one of those guys that is just boiling down to make welter, i would think he weighs over 165 every time he fights. never beat no one other than a questionable grab n hold win over porter.

Other than Porter, Rios is a better name than any other Brook opponent.

They should explain then why they wanted Rios not to wear his glove of choice.

Rooting for Brook obviously but you never know, Chaves could make it an ugly fight and win unofficially since it is the UK.

Chaves is a decent fighter which could be tricky for Brook, but he has only won one of his last 3 fights.

He needs to fight a name next, Khan, Bradley, Thurman or Garcia, they are who he should aiming for.

At least Chavez has the sack to face Brook, which is more than can be said for Queen Khan.

Statements like these have no worth especially considering Hearn as a promoter is just bigging up his fighter. He also thinks AJ beats Klitschko and Fury right now. It's just his job.

He was not out boxing him easily and he Chaves very much deserved to get DQ'd.
