Comments Thread For: DiBella: Jacobs-Quillin is Biggest Bout in Barclays History

New York, New York - Come December 5th, promoter Lou Dibella believes the bout between middleweights Peter Quillin (32-0-1, 23 KO’s) and Danny Jacobs (30-1, 27 KO’s) will be the biggest bout to ever take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

He feels the long-awaited showdown is bigger than anything he's ever promoted at the venue - and he takes the same position when discussing past events which Golden Boy Promotions staged at the venue when Oscar De La Hoya's company had an exclusive deal with Barclays.

They should add Spence or another up and coming fighter to the card.

Lol. My first thought when I read the title.

This fight while decent is being severely overhyped. This would have been a regular run of the mill fight on HBO or the old Showtime. For PBC standards I guess it's a big deal.

The Barclays Center is Danny Garcia's house. Garcia/Morales, Garcia/Judah, Garcia/Malignaggi, Garcia/Peterson are the top shows in the Barclays short history and as anxious as I am to see Quillin/Jacobs over the Garcia fights, I have my doubts this sells over 7k. Haymon simply hasn't marketed Danny or Peter as marquee fighters.

People always throwing out some tallest midget type hype for things in sport & entertainment. Can't blame them in the asses in seats business. Shane Mosley letting some cat grab his girls ass to sell tickets lol. At least Lou ain't putting Mrs. DiBella in that sorta awkward position.

I think he's done about as well as to be expected with these two. I mean Jacobs is cancer man at this point. I just run when I hear people talk about cancer. Cancer scary. And Quillin is about as spacey as a black man can be without hanging with skateboarders or a white dad. This fight was gonna be what its going to be regardless I think.

On its merits its a respectable HBO caliber fight between two top 160lbers. And thats fine.
