Comments Thread For: Andy Ruiz Jr. Back in Training, Ready For Quick Return

A lot was made of the leaner and meaner version of Andy Ruiz showing up for his September 26 headliner on UniMas. The 26-year old once put the "heavy" in "heavyweight" but has made a conscious effort to whip himself into physical and fighting shape these days.

With that came a 247¾ lb. version of the unbeaten contender, in a bout that came on relative short notice. Ruiz Jr. was added to the Sept. 26 show after original headliner Jose Ramirez was forced to withdraw due to injury.

Great glad to see Andy get with the program, he a very talented prospect but his weight issue was gonna be his handicap. Hopefully this isnt just a fad and he is committed for the long haul.

His idea of "in shape" is OK if you're trying to avoid a heart attack. A HW title is going to take a lot more. The best short fat man I ever saw was Two Ton Tony Galento. This guy only wishes...

Another Arreola. All the big Mexicans are working on the pipelines making money. Sadly there won't be one that's great at HW for a long time.

I first saw this guy fight in May 14' in a bout in Fresno, he surprised me with his speed and movement for a pudgy HW. This kid has some skills, I would like to see him in against better competition, He can **** a little bit.
