The manager of two division world champion Brian Viloria, Gary Gittelsohn, contends that Brian “couldn't be motivated any more than he is” as he prepares to face undefeated, newly installed Ring Magazine pound for pound king Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez of Nicaraguan on October 17 at Madison Square Garden, New York.

I'm sure you could go over rankings across multiple platforms that suggest people prefer to watch bigger fighters so it is what it is on average (I'm sure there are lil guy outliers & big guys who people hate watching). This seems to be the reality in all combat sports like it or not "Vilora's manager".

Fans would rather watch fringe contender HW's instead of elite 112lbers. The reality, & I've heard cats say this so many times at events or watching fights with friends, is people feel like they could kick Viloria's ass, beer belly & all, thus they just don't care as much about the lil guys fighting skills.

Personally I don't like to watch 2 out of shape heavyweights rub bellies - conditioned professional guys yes. I enjoy watching the smaller guys but maybe down to 122lbs. I'll make the exception when you have knockout artists down at 112 and 115 such as Inoue and Gonzalez. I don't get why anybody wouldn't be at least curious to tune in and watch Gonzalez now that he has been installed as #1 pound for pound.

People don't like to see guys half their size who don't typically stop one another. Most casual fans want the danger of the power that comes with the higher weights, and also dismiss those lower weights as "who cares, a heavyweight would kill them."

It sucks, but it is what it is. Even some NSBers have that bias, and we're supposed to be boxing nuts.

you should also consider that the best little guys tend to be asian and hispanic, with few top american fighters around those weights, so the big fights often actually occur overseas in japan, thailand, mexico, etc., because that's where the audiences are

Those hypocrites,, they would watch a welter fight a HW if that where possible today.
