  • Comments Thread For: Yamanaka Edges Moreno By Split Nod, Retains Title

It took everything Shinsuke Yamanaka had in his proverbial gas tank, but the unbeaten bantamweight champion managed to edge Anselmo Moreno by split decision Tuesday evening in Tokyo, Japan.

Scores were 115-113 (twice) for Yamanaka and 115-113 Moreno. BoxingScene.com had the fight scored 116-112 Moreno, who left the ring in disgust as Yamanaka was hailed the winner. [Click Here To Read More]

Was watching.... damn...Moreno made Yamanaka look pretty average IMO.

Slipping punches and making Yamanaka miss that left.

Hell, he hurt Yamanaka pretty good in the 9th to the point I thought he'd get a KD.... also I Moreno almost got a KD in the 11th but they ruled it a slip. I didn't think they'd give it to him... but I guess they did.

    I personally thought Moreno won

Why do these fighters even travel to these countries?
We already know that if the fight is even remotely close, they'll always just give it to the Japanese guy.
I mean, if the only way they can win is by KO or by nearly killing the local fighter, then what is the point?

That **** just looks sad and desperate, like Yamanaka trying to land his one-dimensional left hand all night.

Robbery of the year for me. Worse than Pascal/Gonzalez.

Japan is a pretty fair place most the time, they're fairly good with the fights. And there was most likely more money involved with it going to Japan compared to Panama

Moreno definitely won in my eyes though

You could also tell he was getting pissed off in the later rounds. Was throwing more wildly and getting more aggressive while Moreno was still making him miss pretty good.

            Was Escandon/Cave this year too?

cuz this is up there right now

ink that it's apparent that we're all in agreement here. Yamanaka has to fight outside of his comfort zone if he to gain real credence! Personally I'd like to see him in with Payano or MacDonnell next!

I'll give you props for admitting that Yamanaka didn't look too good. Hell, I thought he would look better. Don't think that much of Moreno to be honest.
They give out closer scorecards for a lot of the fights where the local fighters in other countries would just get a shutout, but it's still to the wrong guy a lot of the time IMO.
I mean, didn't Kono just get a gift recently?

I just feel really bad for Moreno right now, and the problem is that when the fight ended, I closed where I was watching the fight and came straight here, knowing already who had won the fight.

The only thing that surprised me was the closeness of the scorecards, but once again, the winner was wrong.

Straight out ROBBERY! The wbc should overrule the decision or, at the very least, order an immediate rematch. What a disgrace.
