Huh, rumors that Ward passed on Gonzalez. Wonder if that means he's passing on the 3 fight HBO deal to concentrate on his burgeoning 172 career on BETComment

One poster mentioned it in this thread, then I searched on twitter and found a few tweets backing him up. Mind you, only rumors at this stage but not unexpected given his interview from last week where he was saying "critics want me to go up to 175"Comment

All right.
Really, as long as Ward fights a guy in the top 10-ish, I would be satisfied with it.
He fights a no hoper, then he has nobody to blame for the fire that comes his way but himself.Last edited by Sweet Pea 50; 09-20-2015, 11:46 PM.Comment

Ward and GGG was never a reasonable fight, but it could be in the future. Don't get me wrong, I chastised team Golovkin for requesting 164lbs and then for asking 50/50 and later stating that that's not enough when Ward agrees to it. Reality is though, for the last few years Ward hasn't been available due to legalities, injuries, and then coming back two divisions above Golovkin. He fought at 172 and is now looking to be at 175, why should Golovkin entertain a matchup with him at this time?
Or he stopped fighters that already had been stopped but then fought fighters that were all either even bigger (such as Margarito) or are harder to stop (such as Rios).
You are viewing the evidence in a very convenient light.Comment
