Comments Thread For: 30-Day Weights: Golovkin 165 Lbs, Lemieux 175.8 Lbs

Gennady Golovkin and David Lemieux are both within their targeted weight 30 days ahead of their upcoming middleweight unification bout. Given the results, however, the next 29 days leading up to the weigh-in could tell the greater tale. [Click Here To Read More]

that seems really low. i wonder if there's any truth that he was training for 154 lbs in order to entice mayweather into a fight. also, hopefully it means that he could potentially drop a few pounds healthily if that's what it takes to get alvarez or cotto in the ring

GGG is an old school guy. His weight doesn't balloon up and down a lot. Listed at 5'10" (but looking at most only an inch taller than Canelo in photos), he's purely a middleweight.

That said, he probably could move up anyway and do very well.

165 is a bit surprising. then again not really the surprise is how much more weight lemeiux has to lose

I noticed at the presser that Lemieux gained a lot of weight since his last fight against Ndam. Gaining so much weight in such a short time is not verry professional. GGG however is always in shape. I dont think Lemieux is naturally bigger than GGG though.
              Lemieux is just naturally fatter.

he could for sure move up. there is no doubt about that. just look how many classes manny and mayweather moved up. i mean cant blame him if he doesnt move up but lets not forget hes the one who was trying to fight fighters at 168

FFS stop it with GGG fighting ward.

floyd moved up to jr midle weight to fight cotto who is not regarded as the top guy at the weight. He then fought Canelo at a catch weight.

GGG willing to fight frotch and Chavez jr at 168 and ward at a catch weight.

                    See the similarity?

Pac did the same when he first moved up to welterweight
