Comments Thread For: Paulie Malignaggi Returns To The Ring in Italy, 9/26

Former two-time world champion Paulie Malignaggi will make one of his dreams come true on September 26 when he fights in the main event of a show at famed Principe theater in Milan. That’s what the Magic Man says about it:

“Fighting in Italy has always been my desire as I was born in New York from Italian parents, I lived the first six years of my life in Italy and I visited my ancestral country (whose language I speak perfectly) countless times.”

I've got nothing but props for Malignaggi for all the big names he fought, but he seems to be following the Zab Judah/Audley Harrison/Danny Williams route here. I guess Haymon's pay cheques must be irresistable.

I'm cool with that, Paulie's been in there with some killers and always fought bravely knowing his limitations in power.

If he wants to go out this way and bring a decent card to Italy then that's fine with me.

          Cool

When he's active he's on point. I think the Porter and Garcia fights were tough on his body but if he's gonna do this he's got to test himself against softer competition for a little bit to build back up (like he's doing). Wish him the best. The guys a tough cookie.

he's a 2 time world champ so according to floyd sr. he's worthy of a floyd fight

he's being groomed as next in line when floyd comes back from a 2-month retirement.
