Comments Thread For: Coach: Defeats Made David Lemieux a Better Fighter

New York - The trainer of David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KO’s), Marc Ramsey, has a tough task in front of him, figuring out how to beat the undefeated middleweight monster Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KO’s).

Ramsey is very familiar with Golovkin, watching him since the amateur days and feels he is already battle tested even though his professional resume may be thin to some.

    Lemieux will win against GGG

My money is on Lemieux to defeat GGG. One key factor in this fight is that GGG never fought any fighter - including Stevens who was too short and technically deficient - who could get his respect. What would have happened in the 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds if Willie Monroe had Lemieux' power? How many times did he tag GGG? Lemieux is clearly faster and more explosive than GGG. He even beat the fast Guerrero to the punch with his left hand. Speed AND brutal force is a lethal combination. Of course, Lemieux can be wide with his looping right hand and susceptible to uppercuts - but I think that Lemieux will often beat GGG to the punch. Yes, GGG is an intelligent fighter with accuracy... but he is quite slow... If Abel Sanchez thinks that Stevens - who was easily defeated and even knocked down by N'Dam who himself was floored 4 times by Lemieux in his last fight - is a stronger puncher than David, he is in for a shocker. Goliath or not, GGG is going to be in there with a beast who has no fear whatsoever of him...

I totally agree with you. David doesn't look scared at all. He feels really confident right now and I'm rooting for him (Im a Montrealer). I don't know if he'll win but there's one thing i'm sure of : It will be an amazing fight and David, whether he wins or lose, will earn the respect of every boxing fans.

This right here. Lemieux doesn't have it in him to go into "survive mode" so win or lose, he will gain the respect of boxing fans everywhere. For some reason I get the feeling that a lot of casual fans are going to tune into this fight because they've heard the name GGG so it's going to be a coming out party for Lemieux as well.

GGG is not slow for a MW, he is just not blindingly fast. And you can't compare what if Monroe had Lemieux's power, because he doesn't, GGG would have approached the fight differently if he had. People approach fights differently. So comparing what one did town at another can do is just silly in most instances. Let's not forget, GGG blasted the guy who knocked out Lemieux, does that instantly mean GGG will easily blast him too. No.

GGG has fought guys with power. But GGG has never hit the canvas in over 400 fights. He has a great chin, one of the best we've seen in a long while.

The logic behind this doesn't make sense. Plus Lemieux's power comes from one hand, GGG has them in both a outstanding footwork. There is a huge reason why GGG is favorite, and why people are already asking who is next.

Fighters know how good GGG has the potential to be. Canelo is scared because he sparred with him.

Lemieux will probably get knocked out.i don't see how that does anything for him with casual fans. The true is, GGG would have taken N'Dam to pieces. Does Lemieux have power sure, but in one hand and he loads them. He'll try to take GGG out fast because it's his only chance, but as I've said, GGG has never hit the canvas in 400+ fights. He hasn't been stunned.

It's partly because he blunts power shots with his jab defense, crowds the fighter making it hard to load, and when the said fighter misses, he punishes them.
