  • Comments Thread For: Cherviak Vows Upset Ahead Of Skoglund Clash In Sweden

A watershed moment lies ahead of the September 19 clash between unbeaten Erik Skoglund faces Ukraine's Olekdsadr Cherviak in a regional light heavyweight title fight in Nyköping, Sweden.

Just don't expect the visiting challenger to get caught up in the moment.

For the first time ever, the Swedish Boxing Commission granted special permission for a fight on its soil to take place over 12 three-minute rounds. The bout is well beyond the standard 12-minute distance allotted by the local commission, which—according to research from BoxingScene.com's Per Ake Persson—has in the past granted exceptions for fights to be held over six three-minute rounds and 12 two-minute rounds.

Cherviak (15-4-1, 5KOs) respects the significance involved, but is less concerned with playing a role in the promotion than he is with making history of his own.

"It will be great chance for me to be a part of Scandinavian boxing history and to enjoy the Viking atmosphere," notes the visiting 36-year old challenger. "I’m also fighting for my family. I have four sons and one daughter, and I want to motivate them to make a success of their lives.’’ [Click Here To Read More]

Wilbur, #1 I'm drunk. #2 You asked me to share what my DNA would show and it shows I'm a little over 50% Apache and the rest is mostly Spanish but also English #3 You might recall that I had said I had a very unique look in that even tho I'm brown skinned, I have red hair from my beard and mustache to the hair that surrounds my face( my bros teased me to no end that I was a *** and that I was dying his hair). This results in a comical ring of red hair that encompasses my brown face from beard to mustache to the hair that surrounds my head. I mention this because my family comes from Sabinal, Texas, which is where the Nueces river runs through and where a tribe of red headed Apaches used to dwell. Here's a quote from wikipedia about a strange segment of the Lipan Apache "Tséral tuétahä, Tséral tuétahä***8319; ("Red Hair People"): merged later with the Tche shä and Tsél tátli dshä, lived south of the Nueces River in Texas, about 1884 extinct." They merged with other Apache tribes but the red hair obviously remained in the gene pool. Ok, your turn. Tell me what your DNA says you are. Fair is fair. I basically consider myself Mexican because the Apache lived on both sides of the border but you might also recall that I'd said that I didn't relate to Mexicans and that even tho I didn't like them, that I still loved them. The Apaches had a very strong dislike(was actually hatred) of Mexicans. LOL! Lastly, check out my sister Amelia's kids. They're from Chicago and they're some some big ass Apaches, unlike the Indians from Mexico. One of them, David, is 6'5" and the rest aren't too much shorter. My sister Debby's kids are pretty tall too and all of the aforementioned are very athletic and athletically built. Check out Debby's boy, also named David, who does monster dunks like he's jumping off of a got damn trampoline. He's 6'1" but he was able to dunk since he was 5'5". Same for me. I could dunk with great ease. Be safe!
