  • Comments Thread For: Antonio Margarito Would Like To Face Cotto or Canelo

As previously reported, former champion Antonio Margarito (38-8, 27KOs), 37-years-old, is preparing for his comeback with veteran trainer Robert Garcia. He said the comeback may take place by the end of the year.

Margarito has been inactive since losing by TKO in nine rounds in his rematch with Miguel Cotto in December in 2011. Margarito was pulled out of the match by the ringside physician due to the swelling around his right eye.

Margarito vs Cotto 3 would still sell really well. It's a great matchup and story. If he looks decent, wouldn't be surprised if it's made.

I just got done watching the first two fights earlier and goddamn, I was just thinking the exact same thing. It makes so much sense too for both. Cotto feels more powerful now, I truly believe he would want to give Margarito a new type of beating. It's such an epic rivalry, I actually think the magnitude of this rivalry flows under the radar sometimes. These two truly HATE each other. It's hard to find this in boxing nowadays.

A third fight would the EPIC closure of a tragically beautiful trilogy.

WAR MARGARITO!!!!! I'm betraying my own blood in this fight lmao!!! I'm Puerto Rican but I'll be rooting for Margarito this time LOL!!!!! Sue meeee beecheeess!!

This is more likely than Cotto manning up and facing GGG, although that wont need to happen because Alvarez is gonna smash him to bits and take his paper title
