Comments Thread For: Hearn Still in Shock That Gavin-Eggington Came Together

British and Commonwealth champion Sam Eggington will meet Frankie Gavin in an all-Birmingham welterweight clash at the Barclaycard Arena on October 17.

Rising star Eggington, 21, has stopped his last six opponents and his only two defeats came in Prizefighter tournaments. Gavin was last in action when halted by IBF world champion Kell Brook in six rounds back in May.

Gavin is Britain's only ever world amateur champion and that defeat left his professional record at 22-2 (13 KOs) while Eggington, who turned professional at the age of 18, has built up a record of 16-2 (9 KOs).

Macklin dropping down to 154? Welborn is a soft touch, he was KO'd by Gavin at WW.

That ward guy is basic as ***, he needs total refining, he does 1, 2, then he's still there to be countered and he's upright. realy he was very poor. hearn wouldnt have the guts to put him in with liam walsh or even mitchell smith, those the fights that should be happening.

This could easily have been a ppv event.
