  • Comments Thread For: Mosley Compares Punching Power of Cotto and Canelo

BoxingScene.com recently caught up with former three-division champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley who takes on Ricardo Mayorga in a rematch on August 29th in a pay-per-view event from The Forum in Inglewood, Calif.

Mosley has fought most of the top names in the current era of boxing. A few hours prior to our interview, the mega-fight between Miguel Cotto and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez was finalized for November 21st at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Cotto fought a prime mosley and beat him at his own game which a very few have done canelo could barely make a washed up mosley stumble cotto is more accurate and doesn't waste punches canelo just tries to swing at everything to get the crowd going he's young and still does ****** decisions it will cost him on November 21st

i won't be surprised if cotto KOs canelo with a left hook. canelo is an ok fighter, but he is very overrated.

I think their punches are very similar, but Cotto really digs in. Canelo likes to mix em up more and throw combinations so he really doesn't dig in as much IMO. The real question is who TAKES punches better and that is easily Canelo. Cotto has a very suspect chin, and its what makes him exciting to watch. He can easily hurt his opponents but he can be hurt as well. Floyd buckled him slightly in the last round, Judah hurt him twice with his signature left uppercut, Margarito, Torres almost knocked him out, Pacquiao dropped him. But I truly believe when Cotto focuses on his jab, range, distance, and timing, he is one of the best boxers out there.. People confuse him for a brawler but he is a boxer puncher. This is why people were confused when he outboxed Mosley. Mosley is not a boxer, he is a brawler...

Cotto today punches propably harder because hes bigger and not as dehydrated as when fought Mosley at Welter. Both Canelo and Cotto Punch hard and both can hurt each other. It will be a great fight.
