  • Comments Thread For: Glowacki Latest Polish Crusier To Rock Prudential Center

By Jake Donovan - It's the house that Tomasz Adamek built in terms of relevant boxing events at Prudential Center. The run began with his unforgettable 12-round war with Steve Cunningham in their Dec. '08 cruiserweight championship and continued throughout his reign and into his run as a heavyweight contender.

Fast forward nearly seven years later, where the same venue bore witness to a new Polish star in the cruiserweight division. His name is a bit tougher to spell and pronounce, but Krzysztof Glowacki gave the boxing world plenty of reason to brush up on its Polish in his most recent performance.

The unbeaten contender became a champion in highlight reel fashion, denying Marco Huck a piece of boxing history in the process. An off-the-canvas 11th round knockout Friday evening turned Glowacki into an overnight sensation in the latest installment of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Spike TV.

Glowacki was down and nearly out early in round six, and trailing on all three scorecards through 10 rounds in a fight that served as the stateside debut for both fighters. There was no shortage of action at any point, as each combatant sought to win over the crowd.

The belief going in was that Glowacki and his team would be able to tap into the large Polish contingent in the Northern New Jersey area that for years supported Tomasz Adamek through his cruiserweight and heavyweight runs. Huck had his fair share of supporters for his first fight abroad, as the Serbia-born, Germany-based cruiserweight champion was a win – or draw - away from a divisional record-breaking 14th successful title defense. The Pole is a good tough fighter but monsters live in the Crusierweight division now so i do not predict a long reign for the new champion.

but damn he almost called the fight in advance, great win for the Pole

Yeah, it's a pretty stacked division. If they actually fight each other I don't see how anyone will reign there long.

It's funny how Glowacki beats the guy who has done it all in the division, but the odds of Glowacki going that far at CW are extremely slim.

u'd have to think haymon is going to sign him up and put him right back there or in chicago next to fonfara..
or maybe haymon lets fonfar main event..he's did it before on showtime and once on pbc...
as long as its a good fight why not

way to go glow..i rolled with you in this one and i thought i screwed up down the stretch, but u flattened huck...LITERALLY

              Great win for Glowacki

Great fight and a great ending to a good fight. Huck got caught and Ko'd in a stunner. Glowacki's KO is what make boxing a great sport. Huck is still wondering what the hell happened. Two evenly matched fighters at their best.

eastern europe is taking over boxing. no more coward running, no more punk degenerate thug life wannabe homies to ******ize the sport. boxing will be back in the spotlight with all these great humble fighters: lomachenko, kovalev, GGG, povetkin, wlad, glowacki etc.

I'm starting to think cruiserweight has more good fights to be made and is more competitive than welterweight, featherweight or flyweight - in short the most competitive division in the sport. Welterweight has a lot of contenders but the best fights are seldom made.

don't know how popular is boxing in Poland, compared to any other sports, but every time a polish boxer fight they seem to have the best fans in the sport.
