Comments Thread For: Warren: Lee-Saunders Will Land in Manchester Arena

As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, WBO World Middleweight Champion, Andy Lee, has been hit with a virus which has caused his fight against mandatory challenger Billy Joe Saunders to be postponed from the 19th of September.

Whilst the virus is not serious, Lee’s Promoter, manager and trainer, Adam Booth, informed co-promoter Frank Warren about it and whilst the Lee camp were happy to see if it cleared up in the next fortnight Warren, who also manages Billy Joe Saunders, was not prepared to take the risk with so much at stake for the Broadcasters, Boxers and the fans. I knew they wouldn't be able to fill that stadium for this **** average fight. Lee isn't even a draw in Ireland. What was Warren thinking?

Hoping he'd be a big enough draw with a belt and an all traveler fight.... in hindsight...30k is a **** ton to expect

Nobody knows who BJS and Lee are, i was speaking to a traveller today about boxing, and he had barley watched BJS, and had'nt even heard of Lee.
It should have always been in London

Warren wanted the fight in London, it was Lee & Booth who pushed for an Ireland fight w/o really building Lee up in the area. Andy hasn't had any big fights during his career in Ireland. Even Macklin does some shows in Dublin.

Too bad, be nice to see the Irish get behind Andy even half as much as they are McGregor.

Haha, seriously though... they never really had a card in place and I saw little promotion for it or heard for it....

It'll do better in Manchester...sucks for Lee
