Here is the problem with this comparison. Ali fought 4 times in 1975. When you are fighting 4 times in a year you are allowed a soft touch fight. Not when you are only fighting twice a year.

The only other problem is as mentioned is the money. If you are making the type of money Floyd is and CHARGING the Fans the type of money Showtime is then you have to do better than this ****.

The last problem is this is supposedly Floyd's last fight. If that is the case and he is TBE as he claims to be then he should be shooting for greatness in his last fight not taking a 'stay busy' type fight, especially as Floyd isn't a guy that has taken a lot of damage over his career.

I mean at that time Ali was even being dragged into the whole boxing vs MMA talk (they didn't call it back then) just like Floyd is with Rousey right now, only the difference was Ali had NO SHAME when it came to money and actually fought Antonio Inoki in a bizarre boxing vs mma match in 1975, just so that Ali could make $10 million dollars or whatever it was he paid, a circus act that everyone involved in wanted to forget about!

For the record I love Ali and don't think much of Floyd and I think the issues raised about Floyd are true....but the point you are making has been decontexualized beyond belief.

People seem to be confusing a justification for a "softee" with the actual process of taking a "softee."

So heres what I have to say: IF A MONSTER CAME ALONG AT FLOYD'S WEIGHT AND DESTROYED EVERYONE AND LOOKED TO BE THE BEST EVER AND FLOYD AGREED TO FIGHT HIM OUT BACK....IN ONE OF KIMO'S OLD HAUNTS....AND KICKED HIS ASS IT WOULD STILL NOT DELETE THE CHOICES HE HAS MADE IN HIS CAREER AND WOULD NOT ELEVATE HIM ABOVE ALI.... This Berto fight is just one of many criticisms of Floyd over many years.
