Even if it is a wack fight, its the last one. As long as he rides off into the sunset on that note, I'm not tripping, he did everything he had to do. His fans are happy with his career, those who aren't will never be. Why are only the anti-fans hoping he stays afterward?

He could do PPV fights on his own. Maybe MayweatherVision, like Don King had KingVision back in the day (although I think that was technically a Showtime entity iirc). Throw PBC guys on the undercard. Or PBC could just freelance the PPV card out like they've been doing with everyone under Haymon. Or PBC could do a PPV. It just seems like to keep absolute max money in house & in Mayweather's pocket you could even cut out Showtime from these last few fights he's rumored to be interested in having.

Although Merchant did retire so maybe Mayweather isn't as worried about walking the HBO halls in constant fear of Merchant jumping out in front of him & challenging him to a duel.
Naw man Lampley is still there ready to poison any water glass that Floyd happens to drink out of.

Simply taking the "this is the last fight" route to avoid re-negotiations with CBS/Showtime so he can be an unrestricted free agent for fight #50 - which will have HBO/Time Warner offering huge money for Pacquiao II and CBS/Showtime offering huge money for Thurman/Khan winner (which they would put on Showtime PPV to build up to be the challenger). My best guess.

The only way they can promote this travesty is by saying its Mayweather's final fight, so people tune in for the last time and early next year he will announce his comeback, it's already planned. Espinoza is a piece of shi.t.
