Comments Thread For: Brian Rose Admits Career at Stake in Jones Rematch

Brian Rose says he must beat Carson Jones to keep his career alive when the pair meet in a rematch on August 1 in Hull, live on Sky Sports.

Rose lost a dramatic one-round contest in Blackpool in February, hurting Jones early in the fight only for the American to turn the tables and stun hometown fans with the controversial stoppage win.

The 30-year-old former world title challenger has bounced back from a damaging defeat before, beating Max Maxwell in a British title defence in March 2012, almost two years after Maxwell had stopped him in an eight-round clash – and Rose believes he will gain revenge on the Oklahoma fighter.

When I watched the first fight live I thought it was a terrible stoppage. Watched it again the other day and I've changed my mind somewhat. Still premature but Rose was not fighting back and got hit cleaner with one or two more than I seem to remember.

Expecting Rose to be ultra cautious in what will probably be a straightforward wide UD.

Honestly you can't really complain about the stoppage (maybe a tad premature), he was doing the Khan dance. Good luck to him in the rematch but unfortunately it's evident he's not world level. I've said time and time before though, Ian John Lewis is a disgrace. Brian Vera vs Rocky Fielding was disgusting as was AJ vs KJ.

You would have complained for years if Jones was stopped in that way.
