Never heard of Silva but Andy Vences is a beast. As I am also from San Jose, CA. And he has a nice buzz going on over here right now. Seen him fight and he appears to have the goods.

Silva is a big lightweight. Hasn't fought in a year, but held the vacant WBO Latino belt that Verdejo now holds and has been in the WBO's rankings before, so it probably won't be long before he's moved in and up the rankings.

He's fighting Saturday, so hopefully they show some of his fight if they have some quick stoppages.

I've only seen a little bit of Vences, but he looks physically strong with a solid left hook.

He's a very active fighter...already fought three times this year...and has fought all over Northern California...Salinas, Redwood City, Fairfield, Sacramento, San Francisco, etc. Seems like he's fought pretty much everywhere but San Jose.

He said in an interview earlier in the year that he was seeking a big time promoter...now that he has one, hopefully he can start to fight in his hometown and really build a following there.

That would be cool because I would love to see him fight at the Shark Tank! I have only seen a little bit of him as well but I liked what I saw. Didn't hurt he was a hometown boy.

There's a Mexican restaurant around the way that has a bunch of his signed memoribilia on the wall. Pretty cool stuff.
