Despite a disastrous lead-in to fight weekend, there was some good news for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. to take from his July 18 clash with countryman Marcos Reyes in El Paso, Texas. The second-generation boxer enjoyed a better performance both in the ring and in the ratings than was the case in his forgettable Showtime-televised debut in April.

That’s really where the good news ends for the former middleweight titlist. Topping a day/night telecast at Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Chavez’ 10-round win over Reyes played to an average of 663,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. [Click Here To Read More]

Arum took Haymon to the bank on the JCC buyout. JCC is worthless, just let him lose to a couple of your others guys and be done with him

Terrible ratings. Showtime boxing is dead. They got in bed with Haymon to compete with HBO. Gave him a blank check for garbage fights last year just to keep him happy so he wouldn't take away his roster of fighters. In the process alienated and created riffs with other promoters and fighters. Tarnished their brand with disgraceful fights like Garcia vs Salka. And in the end Haymon still stabbed them in the back creating PBC and took all his fighters off Showtime and onto other networks. The TV ratings since PBC launched have been terrible for showtime. Look at Chavez ratings on HBO before the move and look at other comparable fights this time last year on Showtime. The ratings have been basically cut in half.

It's only going to get worse for Showtime. I know hardcore boxing fans who subscribed to Showtime 2 years ago when they made that major power play with Haymon. Damn near all have canceled their subscription now. They got one more fight with Mayweather and other then that they got nobody signed to a contract and Haymon is only throwing garbage fights to showtime like the Wilder Molina fight. When Wilder is ready for a real fight it will be on Network TV not Showtime. HBO saw Haymon's BS a mile away and cut ties with him years ago so they saw no impact to their business when he went to PBC. Meanwhile Showtime boxing is now on life support because they sold their soul to try and compete with HBO. And they did or a year or 2 but now they are worse off then they were before the Haymon alliance. PBC has turned Showtime into the replacement for ESPN Friday Night Fights.

Chavez jr should be banned from fighting at 168. It's obvious he can't make the weight. If not he should have to forfeit his entire purse if he fails to make weight again.

... Yet no figures for Frampton-Gonzalez... Anyway, the arena for that PBC card appeared to be empty.

                They were terrible as well.

                Tweeted by Dan Rafael yesterday

"Ratings for PBC on CBS on Saturday were poor based on this report: http://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2015...lf-nbc/#pbccbs #boxing"

3 of the 4 boxing cards on CBS since PBC launched have failed to even crack 1mil viewers. And the numbers like the PBC shows on other networks keeps trending down.

The funny part is hearing people say Fonfara was too big for him. That's pure BS. He can't make weight at 168 he's a natural light heavyweight. He walks around close to 200 pound in between fights. He wasn't too big for him we are just so used to him fighting guys so grossly smaller then him. What you saw his last fight is what happens when he fights guys his own size.

When will Haymon realize no one is interested seeing these Fighters you claim are Elite fighting C class fighters. Put on good fights, you may just get good ratings. Showtime needs to turn down these awful fights and stop headlining now irrelevant and no longer main event fighters.
