  • Comments Thread For: Froch on 'Bitter' Calzaghe: My Stats Smash His To Bits!

While walking out the door, Carl Froch took a parting shot at the man he labels as "bitter" - Joe Calzaghe.

Froch announced his retirement from boxing on Tuesday. Calzaghe retired, undefeated, back in 2009.

The two fighters are no strangers to trading words. At the tail-end of Calzaghe's career, he often slung mud with Froch but the two of them never came close to stepping in the ring. Even during Calzaghe's retirement, there were several moments where the two of them continued the verbal warfare.

Not sure statistics is the best way to assess careers.

They both had great careers, I just think Froch's record is more condensed and he gets kudos for going on the road more often too.

Getting beat by Ward >Paper champion

Why does being undefeated mean so much to this forum? Dont u guys know that being undefeated means u were poorly matched?

Froch could have ended his career on a high note with a big name which would have cemented his legacy much better than it is today. Ending your career fighting some guy barely anyone has heard of twice (Groves) and calling that a world class opponent is far from ideal. Calzaghe dominated his opponents, Froch was always in competitive fights that in many cases could have gone either way. Calzaghe would have knocked him out.

Joe was amazing in the ring but him boasting about beating Jones Jr when he did was Like when Zsu beat Chavez Sr. Other than that who did Joe fight? Lacey? Hopkins was a good win although a prime Hopkins probably wins. I think Froch is what is good with boxing and Joe is what is wrong with boxing. Go out and fight everybody win or lose. Froch had the better boxing career

aka getting asked about Carl for weeks...

he hardly mentions Carl in interviews unless asked.

Calzaghe was the better fighter and his resume is also better.

When people talk about Calzaghe he's mentioned as arguably the greatest SMW ever. The only guy that has a run on him is Andre Ward. Even Ward hasn't beaten the level of opponents that Calzaghe has.

When they talk about Froch they consider him top 10 SMW.

There's a difference between being mentioned as the GOAT at your division and top 10.

What world class opponents did Froch fight and convincingly beat? He was losing against Jermain Taylor going into the 12th. Dirrell beat him clearly and was robbed on the cards. Andre Ward schooled him. He lost to Kessler as well.

Froch was good but he was not great.
