Comments Thread For: Carl Frampton: I Won’t Sell Myself Short To Scott Quigg

Carl Frampton turned down an offer earlier this year to face the other 122-pound fighter of note in the United Kingdom, Scott Quigg. But as has often prevented major fights from happening, one or both sides feel the terms need to be right.

“The situation with Quigg is he outpriced himself on the fight,” Frampton stated while promoting his July 18 bout against Alejandro Gonzalez. “He thinks he’s worth more than what he is. I was told by my mother growing up never to sell myself short. I’m not going to sell myself short to Scott Quigg or [Quigg’s promoter] Eddie Hearn.” [Click Here To Read More]

Lol, Hearn and Quigg tried to pull a fast one by offering "60-40 to the winner". That kinda offer only works as an incentive if the fighters in question have parity. They don't: Frampton is the legit world champ, with the bigger fan base, better resume and more exciting style. Let's face it, Frampton-Martinez was a very big fight. Quigg-Martinez doesn't have the same feel about it; there's no buzz; most of the tickets in Manchester have been sold by Crolla.

        Everyone knows the deal.

Quigg and Hearn know they lose this fight so they are trying to be clever by making offers that sound good to casual fans but are actually garbage. All this fight takes is 60-40 Frampton and it's a done deal.

Quigg deserves no possible avenue to get 60% of the split - be it an injury, a robbery or whatever else. Bigger draw, better fighter, proper world champion...all things in Frampton's favour.

60-40 Frampton may end up being the value split, but the talks will still come down to the composition of the package, which is where the hairs will get split. Because, lets look at some facts:

-Frampton-Quigg brings more to the pot on Sky Box Office than it does on ITV (Hearn's relationship with Haymon keeps the PBC avenue open to both parties).

-Frampton-Quigg on a stacked O2 show in London does better business than Frampton-Quigg in Belfast (standalone show, Belfast brings the most money)

Every move away from the reality of where the most money can be generated will cost Frampton some of that split.

it seems like an easy enough deal to make, to me: 60-40 for frampton in the odyssey arena as part of a sky box office event. quigg is the challenger and he has the smaller fanbase

Everyone has an opinion about the offers frampton got from match room but if frampton is desperate to fight quigg, make Scott an offer. Button line is team frampton need sky sports box office for ppv. In my opinion barry mcguigan is the major reason this fight ain't happening

60-40 in Frampton's favor is fair and just.

McGuigan is a digk, hearn is a coquk, but Hearn has the platform, without hearn, no sky, without sky ...no money.
Attendance is one thing, but as has been shown, the real money comes from PPV
What does McGuigan promote exactly? seems he is just trying to call himself the promoter to earn himself some$$$ on the side, when he really is not needed.
