In recent months Oscar De La Hoya has mentioned repeatedly that he wants to make the best fights possible. This renewed commitment coincides with him taking on a bigger role in his position of President at Golden Boy Promotions and the resignation of former CEO Richard Schaefer. De La Hoya stated that making the best fights will be the focus of the company moving forward.

Fellow Golden Boy stakeholder Bernard Hopkins is on the same page as De La Hoya and said that future Golden Boy recruits will have to share the vision and not expect to be babied as they move their way up from being a prospect to contender.

He needs to shut up and the only people who have somethign against PBC and boxing on network tv are those with an issue with Haymon changing the game. Every card isn't going to be elite fighers stacked against each other.

But I'd rather see Collazo (gate keeper southpaw) vs Thurman on FREE TV than I would snaggatooth Hopkins vs Murat on Showtime..

Why do people hate on Canelo so much, like him or not the guy has fought the best.

Babying? Canelo fought Trout, Mayweather, Angulo, Lara, Kirkland and is going to fight Cotto next. That is babying? Please tell me the list of fighters who have faced better competition during this 6 fight stretch then Canelo? Go ahead I will wait. Then think about Canelo being just 24 years old. Look at Thurman and his age and he hasn't fought anywhere near that level of fighters and is facing Collazo. Look at Wilder who is 30 something and still fighting bums like Molina. Look at Khan's last 5 fights since Garcia knocked him out. Lemieux just won the title I got no problem if he fights a mandatory before he jumps into a unification fight. None of this is on the level of disrespect that we see with Danny fighting Salka a non ranked lightweight after a questionable decision in a fight most felt he lost. Yeah no rematch for Herrera instead lets fight Salka. Wilder fighting Molina and will fight another bum later this year. Garcia fighting feather fisted Paulie when he is coming off a long layoff and a devastating KO loss.

There is a difference between jumping into the best and hardest fight every time around and fighting a complete bum. There is middle ground. There is a huge gap between Thurman fighting Mayweather and fighting Collazo. You don't want or can't get that fight then at least fight a credible fighter slightly below Mayweather. Hopkins is calling the guys out who are scrapping the bottom of the barrel getting top fighters fights with guys like Collazo and Salka.

Common sense is hard to find in these forums. Bernard was 100% right in what he was saying. Of course top fighters are going to have tune up fights now and then, but haymon has his best fighters doing 3 or 4 tune UPS for every 1 competitive matchup. If haymon wants pbc to succeed he needs to put on better cards. Hes trying to squeeze out promoters who are putting on good cards and its hurting the sport because hes having his guys fighting the likes of to salka. At this stage of thirmans career he should only take top fights, not headlining against Luis collazo. Pbc is basically the dumping ground for fighters who want good paydays for fighting bums. Haymon is doing far more harm to boxing than he is doing good. Its painfully obvious to everyone except haymon d riders. HBO boxing ratings have never been so high since pbc has been around. Boxing fans want competitive matchups, not a bunch of mismatches over and over.

Lemiuex vs. GGG. Oscar is saying Lemiuex has to fight his mandatory first, a mandatory that doen't exist.

Canelo vs. GGG. Now I won't go hard on GBP for this because this is a good fight. But Oscar saying GGG vs Canelo is 2 years away is ducking imo if he beats Cotto. We'll see after the fight. I'll give Canelo a tuneup before he faces GGG. But after that the fight has to happen. And in the meantime the fight between GGG and Lemiuex has to happen
