Comments Thread For: Crolla Felt Big Boost From Manchester United Manager

Anthony Crolla says he is still stunned by the support from former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and the rest of the football club after his attack in December – and wants to repay that faith by ripping the WBA World Lightweight title from Darleys Perez at the Manchester Arena on July 18, live on Sky Sports.

Crolla’s World title dreams looked to be all over when he confronted burglars that were trying to break into his neighbour’s home, and the brave boxer suffered a fractured skull and broken ankle in the attack – forcing him out of his January World title date with WBA Lightweight king Richar Abril.

Crolla's a nice guy and a pretty good fighter and he usually brings a high workrate too which might give him a decent chance if Perez fights lazy. And after the recent trauma in his life, with a real fear he would never box again, Crolla knows this title shot is heaven sent, so to speak. He'll seek to make the most of it in front of passionate home town backing and even though I'm a may-the-best-man-win kind of guy I hope Anthony comes out with the belt because in the circumstances it really would be a bit of a fairy tale. When it comes to it, though, I believe Perez will win. I expect he'll have a look for a couple of rounds, maybe sacrifice them on the cards, before warming to the task and finding some rhythm. By half way at the latest, imo, Perez will time Crolla with something nasty and either force a stoppage at that point or ride the momentum from there on home for a no-nonsense decision.

Quigg is desperate for a big fight. It's Hearn that's holding him back.

Do you have a mental illness? Every time i am on here you are making up conspiracy theories and attempting anyway possible to bash the Gallagher camp. They are a bunch of choir boys i don't see how you can hate on them regardless of talent and skill not everyone in the world is blessed like Mayweather and will hit some bumps in the road in their careers. Scott Quigg's life is boxing 24/7 he has not drunk a beer since he was 15 years old when he had 3 cans of beer and does not go out to socialize at all with any other people apart from his fiancee and family. Do i have to explain Anthony Crolla who is the nicest man in boxing? As for your theory that Crolla has been protected for years please explain why he has 4 defeats and has been stopped?

I dont hate on quigg or crolla they seem alright but theyre part of why boxing is going down the crapper, cause theyre trainer is a fraud. Now its callum smith he got exposed by journeyman rebrasse and now what are they going to do with him pump out 30 stiffs. Crolla is too small and flawed, I thought derry beat him, he's domestic level, so its a ridiculous fight. Ive never made up conspiracy theories if you look at the different reports, you will see that crolla never had a 'slab of concrete brought down on him' it was infact a stone thrown at him, then they said they caught the guys, but now he said he dont know who it was, then he said he heard noises next door then he said it was the alarm that made him go over there. I know bs when I see it.
