Comments Thread For: Alexander-Chaves Deal Reached For IBF Final Eliminator

BoxingScene.com has been advised that a deal has been reached for a final IBF eliminator between welterweights Diego Chaves (23-2-1, 19KOs) and Devon Alexander (26-3, 14KOs). The two camps were able to avoid a purse bid, for a fight that will see the winner get a crack at current IBF champion Kell Brook.

Chaves has been inactive since a December twelve round split draw with former two-division world champion Timothy Bradley. The Argentine boxer had lost by disqualification to Brandon Rios a few months earlier. Rios is now the likely opponent for Brook on September 12th in London.

How the hell did they come to a deal with what's currently going on between TR and Haymon?

Chaves is not with Top Rank. He's promoted by someone in Argentina.

I hope Devon doesn't win because Brook will take the mandatory and then Khan will use it as ammo for fighting "his scraps" unless Brook KO'd Devon.

Decent battle of second tier 147 pounders, I don't think Brook has much to fear from either though.

Hopefully they will put on a good show but both guys have their ways of killing the action of a fight.

Hope Chaves wins. Alexander was awful against Khan and would get stopped against Brook. At least Chaves has some fire power and would go down fighting.

Khan style was just all wrong for Devon, he had to deal with too many combos, against Brook he doesn't have to worry about that. Brook is methodical and economical with his punches, brook beats him still doe IMHO.

I like Chaves granted he got a kinda gift draw vs Bradley( even though he was coming back in the end). He's a good scrap and I think he can give Lex( and Brook for that matter) trouble.
