  • Comments Thread For: Murray Says GGG in The Past, Wants Big Fights at 168

Martin Murray marked his return to the ring with a ruthless second-round stoppage win over George Beroshvili.

The St Helens man has decided to move up in weight since his gallant defeat against Gennady Golovkin and he started the next chapter of his career in style, defeating the Georgian with a brutal body shot at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.

Fighting behind his usual high guard, Murray bullied his opponent backwards in the first round and sunk in hurtful shots to Beroshvili's ribs. The Georgian struggled to hold off the former world title challenger and was gasping for air at the bell.

Murray I like as a fighter he looked ok last night hopefully the move up will continue to look like it suits him as his level of competition is increased . I'd like him to have a couple more fights before a world title fight then Murray vs degale

He looked considerably bigger than GGG. SMW probably is better for him

if murray moves up and gets a title or quality wins..matter of fact if he even gets robbed by a quality name shame on GGG that a guy he ko'd has more balls to go up and challenge himself vs bigger men/better weight class..

I'd be interested in Ward vs Murray.

Could be a good voluntary for James DeGale.

Murray and Ward both are of the same size...

It has nothing to do with challenging himself. Murray believes he will perform better @168 because he won't have to cut as much weight. He's come up short against the biggest challenges of his MW campaign, and the same thing will happen at SMW. He isn't beating any of the titlists, but he'll probably beat the likes of Fielding/Smith.
