Comments Thread For: Browne Down For Deontay Wilder Fight Any Place, Time

Barely a day after Alexander Povetkin his team all but removed the top contender as the next challenger for Deontay Wilder’s next ring appearance, unbeaten Australian heavyweight Lucas Browne has willingly offered his services for the fall assignment.

Wilder and his team have designs on fighting four times in 2015, schedule permitting. The undefeated heavyweight titlist is fresh off of a 9th round knockout win of fringe contender Eric Molina. His performance drew mixed reviews, but fared well at the box office, playing to a sold out crowd at Bartow Arena on University of Alabama-Birmingham campus, less than a hour from Wilder’s Tuscaloosa hometown.

His next title defense is being targeted for late September. The fight will have to take place elsewhere, given that the University of Alabama’s powerhouse college football squad has home games every weekend in September.

As locations are being sought, so too are potential candidates to stand opposite the 6’7” heavyweight in the ring on fight night. Povetkin is the current mandatory challenger, but his team revealed that talks are not where they need to be in order to make a September fight possible.

Browne and his team promise that won’t be an issue if and when such a fight is offered. [Click Here To Read More]

Wilder won't fight Browne in September.

There will be softer opponents available - he'll choose a journeyman or a shot old boxer, perhaps Nagy Aguilera or poor old Michael Sprott.

Browne is more charismatic and has a running 'feud' or rivalry with Wilder. Browne is undefeated, younger, hungrier and more serious about training/conditioning than Arreola. Chris Arreola is a tough rugged fighter, but he's lost every time he's stepped up - Vitali, x2 Stiverne, Adamak. I say let Browne have a chance

I'm pretty sure Wilder has to face a fighter ranked at least 15 by the WBC. None of those guys are ranked

Yeah this "feud" consists of Browne making ******, awkward attempts at calling out Wilder on twitter while Wilder basically ignores him. I do think Wilder wants to beat his a** though.

"No one training out of their garage is beating me." Haha

But Haymon could persuade the "We Be Crooks" to rank them.

Molina wasn't originally ranked either, until Wilder chose him.

What's your opinion if Wilder vs Browne is signed?

Browne would have been a decent voluntary defense opponent instead of Molina.

But Povetkin has earned his mandatory status, with his wins over Charr, Takam and Perez.

So Wilder's next fight should be Povetkin. If he wins, he can have a couple of voluntary defenses after that.
