  • Comments Thread For: Mayweather: Probably Would've Stopped Broner-Maidana

WBC/WBO/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) has a close bond with Adrien Broner (30-1, 22KOs), who on Saturday night will battle Shawn Porter (25-1-1, 16KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Porter is the toughest opponent for Broner since he suffered the sole defeat of his career to Marcos Maidana in December 2013.

In the loss to Maidana, Broner was dropped twice and he was hurt several times in the contest.

Even though Maidana was winning comfortably broner was still throwing power shots and managed to buzz Maidana late in the fight. I hate it when trainers throw in the towel, just let the fighter go out on his shield

I agree about the chino fight but Imo sometimes a fighter is his own worst enemy. There are some real consequences if you let a fight drag on too long

If Broner didn't exaggerate how bad he was hurt with that "headbutt" Maidana probably would of stopped him. he was really coming on that round.

I agree 100%. Although I don't agree with Mayweather saying they should have thrown in the towel, broner was still fighting, let him go out on his shield even though he was taking a beating. But yes that round I think he would hav been stopped minus the holing and cry baby about the headbut
