Comments Thread For: Tureano Johnson Targets Cotto, Golovkin Showdowns

NEW JERSEY - Gary Shaw Productions' middleweight contender, Tureano Johnson (18-1, 13 KOs), is looking for the biggest fights in the division. Currently rated WBC #2, WBA #3, IBF #8 and WBO #13, Johnson is riding a 4-fight winning streak with the hopes of landing a world title shot.

Tureano's only blemish is a controversial TKO loss to Curtis Stevens in which he was winning on all scorecards before the referee stopped the bout in the final round.

He should've atleast had a stay busy fight by now. This guy has no significant wins in his career. He's got an entertaining style, seems to be a good fighter, but he needs a little something to back it up.

First chance he can get away from Gary Shaw, he needs to do it.

A fight with Heiland will be interesting. Both need start fighting more and have more exposure to achieve a word title opportunity.

The guy impresses me with his stay busy style. I'd like to see him busier, maybe vs top 10 MWs. 10 3/4 rounds he was beating Stevens... not that that says much (especially now), but it shows he can avoid bombs.

Get a fight with a contender, and win. This is the best way to get a title opportunity. At least it used to be.

GGG should fight Lara, Johnson is no worthy challenger yet.

I'd like to see that, but there is no guarantee Lara would even take the fight. If the fight happened, I could see it at 160--- otherwise GGG will tell Lara to take a hike.

I think this will end up being the next GGG fight. Nobody else will be available/fight him.
