The President of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Sulaiman, believes the upcoming fight between Miguel Angel Cotto and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is biggest fight in the history of the Puerto Rico vs. Mexico rivalry since Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. fought Hector Camacho, which took place in 1992.
Cotto retained his WBC middleweight title on Saturday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn with a fourth round knockout of Daniel Geale. He is now expected to face Canelo sometime in the fall - once a step-aside deal is reached between Cotto and WBC mandatory challenger Gennady Golovkin.
