Comments Thread For: Nick Blackwell: I Just Mentally Destroyed John Ryder

LONDON - Trowbridge warrior Nick Blackwell won the British middleweight title in stunning fashion on Saturday night (May 30) when stopping Londoner John Ryder inside seven swashbuckling rounds at a sold-out O2 Arena.

The win landed Blackwell the coveted Lonsdale belt at the third time of asking and instantly catapulted his name up the world rankings. It also went some way to highlighting the importance of perseverance.

So who's next then? Mark Heffron could be an option!

It was an enjoyable scrap just as I hoped and predicted it would be. Although I picked Ryder, good job from Blackwell in getting the sudden stoppage. He should start mouthing off for that Saunders rematch - he did a much better job than Who-bank ever did.

ryder threw the left uppercut, nick rolled back countered with the right hook. maybe ryder coulda stepped back or ended on a hook or if he wernt so crouched he could have ducked the counter.

That would be a good scrap!! I'd like to see Heffron in a few bigger fights before he takes on Blackwell though. Don't want to see him suffer a defeat because he wasn't ready and fall off the radar like his brother

Blackwell v Eubanks would have been good, before Eubank fought Saunders.
Id still like to see Eubanks v Blackwell, if Eubanks wins or loses to Saunders again.

But nice win for Blackwell, somewhat of an upset. Adam Etches was Ko'ed though which was suprising.
