Comments Thread For: Brook: Every Time Khan Steps Up, He Gets Stopped!

IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (35-0, 24KOs) says Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) is undeserving of a shot at the pound-for-pound king, WBC/WBA champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs).

Brook sees himself as being a more deserving party to get that lucrative shot. Mayweather is planning to return on September 12th in what he claims will be his final career fight. Brook is scheduled to return on August 29th, likely against Brandon Rios.

Actually the only times he got stopped was when he was facing guys he was meant to beat really easily i.e. Garcia and Prescott. The step up fights like Judah, Maidana he won.

Khan gets arrogant now and then. I recall the pre-fight conference v Garcia - he was talking smack. He has some good wins v good guys (Maidana, Devon, Judah even Malignaggi). He will always be at risk of being sparked out owing to his shaky chin.

I dont understand the hate for Khan. He is only trying to maximize his income as we all are.

Err yeah it was, he was coming of a Mathysse pts decision win and a Mabuza KO. That was Judahs best run and was looking real good. Nobody expected Khan to get KO'd from Prescott a nobody and Garcia was like the biggest underdog ever. Everybody thought Maidana was going to decapitate Khan because he was just knocking everybody out in sight and had a 95% KO ratio going into the Khan fight.

You're saying that now, but Judah was the IBF champ and fought Amir in unification. Also he was fighting Garcia a year or so later for the Lineal titles, so he was surely good enough to get another title chance, which proves he wasn't shot.

Looking at fights in hindsight is not fair with any fighter. So, "at the time" when Maidana fought Ortiz he was brought in as a sacrificial lamb to be fed to the next Golden Boy and it is another thing Ortiz turned out the way he did. People do the same with Collazo where he was given props for taking a risky fight, NSB picked Collazo by KO, yet now they all the jokes in the world to undermine it.
